Tired of living by the 'status quo'. Wondering if there is 'more' to life - more purpose, fun, meaning, fulfillment, travel?
This book shares the journey of Greg and Rachel Denning who moved from career dependent mortgage slaves to location independent, long-term travelers.
They've created a life that is 'ridiculously awesome' and has allowed them to live and travel to over 11 countries on 3 continents, doing it all with their five children and while facing countless other obstacles, such as learn how to fund their untraditional lifestyle. (They're currently slow traveling from Alaska to Argentina as a family.)
This book shares how they created their awesome life, and how you can create your own unique, ridiculously awesome existence. After reading this book, your life will never be the same.

First of all, I'm not sure if I need to throw this disclaimer in here or not, but I know the author personally. We were fortunate enough to meet Rachel and her husband Greg and the entire family a couple of years ago when in the Seattle area. It was their blog that inspired my wife, and in turn our entire family, to leave the "normal life" behind and start seeking out new adventures. We created our own lifestyle business and have been living on the island of Cozumel, Mexico for almost 2 years now. We owe, this in large part, to Rachel and Greg Denning and their influence. Now, about the book! It's always fascinating to hear the stories of how families are leaving the average behind. What Rachel is able to do however, is to weave her own family's experiences into practical lessons for the rest of us. Each chapter is based on a key principle or lesson.
One particular principle that resonates strongly with me is evaluating your priorities. Rachel discusses living in Alaska and knowing that they were going to leave, they just didn't know where. So they looked at what their priorities were as a family to make the decision.
Another brilliant concept is what Rachel refers to as the "exchange rate". It's basically what you're trading your time and energy for. Another hard hitting but necessary review we all must do.
Overall, this book is a great read. Be ready to get introspective and jot a bunch of notes however! Ideally, this book will push you into doing what you've always wanted. If it's thinking differently and taking your family to live abroad, then there's no better teacher than Rachel and this book!

Living Deliberately Your Guide to a Ridiculously Awesome Life eBook Rachel Denning Greg Denning Reviews
I am still reading the pdf version of this book, but so far I can say that it truly inspires me. I have already taken action on some of the steps Greg and Rachel recommend toward creating the kind of life I dream of living. I am excited about those steps, and I'm even more excited to continue reading about and applying the principles they've outlined. The principles work!
I am lucky enough to have spent a little time with the authors. They have opened my eyes to what a wonderful life this can be when you live deliberately. They are sure to inspire you--not only because of their words, but also their examples. They live these principles. To me, that fact is what truly inspires. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who has ever had a seemingly "impossible" dream. They will show you that your dreams are possible when you live deliberately. They are among the most deliberate people I know. That gives them credibility in my mind.
Our family is also in the midst of an adventure, and so I am always actively seeking out fellow travelers! I stumbled upon the Denning's blog several months ago and have loved reading their updates! When I read that they were publishing a book, I was thrilled and couldn't wait to get a copy! As of right now, I have only read the free PDF version, but fully intend to buy a copy of the "rest of the story" when the funds are available! I love how upbeat and positive the Dennings are, even when trouble strikes! Rachel and Greg are fantastic role models and really set a tone for your life! Don't wait to buy this book and stop waiting to live your Ridiculously Awesome Life!!
I actually bought the PDF version, which was released before the kindle version. Greg and Rachel walk their talk and have actually done so many awesome things and so have been a real inspiration to me. They hold nothing back when it comes to sharing from personal experience - even the things that 'went wrong'. They also pull together quality information from others who have chosen to create extraordinary lives and this book will prove to you that living your dream is possible and show you how to get there. Disclaimer - I have to say that although I do not know them personally, I LOVE them and their work (from following their blog and youtube channel etc.), so I am hugely biased!!
But seriously, If you have read Tim Ferris, Seth Godin or Chris Guillebeau and dream of living life on your terms and being free to travel the world, then this book is definitely for you. Get it! You won't regret it!
The Denning family value spending time together, and make that the center of their lives. Surrounding that center, they enrich it with exploring this great world of ours. They live deliberately, they not only think outside of the box, they have utterly destroyed it. They have helped me realize how imperative it is that we adults make sure to wake up and value every single minute we spend on this earth with our loved ones. I am not scared anymore to pursue my dreams, and the status quo doesn't concern me one bit.
This book is a MUST BUY if you want to live an awesome life.
Disclosure I read the free PDF version, and then won the full version via the authors' website during a raffle.
This is NOT something you can read quickly, think about glibly, and move on.
What the Dennings have written WILL make you think, and some of that process will absolutely take you time to ponder.
You will find yourself asking the tough questions about your life - where you are, where you would like to be, and whether or not you are courageous enough to get there - and you may just find yourself inspired to make some major life changes. Their life changes focus on travel, and I hope mine will too - but the process they walk you through can apply to any major "life reboot", such as a change in career, deciding to have (more) children in the family, and so on. (For me, because slow travel is becoming my dream, this book went really well with _The New Global Student_ by Maya Frost; the Dennings' book helps me analyze the mental preparation for making a jump, and the latter encourages me as I consider the specifics of travel-as-education.)
